Visiting Manti

The beautiful Manti Temple!

This was our first day, it's funny to watch Lillian with a camera

This is where we ate dinner, it was a fun little place, but the best part was the sampling of the ice-cream, we had some laughs that just couldn't be stopped.

The "ice-cream"

As we were driving down the highway, a dear crossed right in front of us, so we stocked it and watched it stop in someones yard and eat the grass.  Way too cool.

Lillian shouting for Joy!

The kids were tired of being in the car and were happy to play!!

Having fun with the Temple right in front of us.  It was a very small, but very comfortable motel, we liked it.

DeWitt, Polly, Lillian, and Allison right before they went into the Manti Temple to do baptisms

Now Dallin is standing with them

Scott and Dallin in front of the Manti temple, just before we went in

Dallin, Scott, and Rebecca just after we came out.  We had a super great experience in the temple, and we even got a tour afterwords.

Just as we're leaving Manti

The First Leg of the Trip to Utah!

We decided to leave a night early to get a quicker start on our journey.  We stayed at Grandma and grandpa's cabin in Pine, AZ.  It was a super nice place to stay.  I wish that we would have had more time to stay linger.

I have talked so much about buffalo, that when we saw a sign for buffalo jerky Scott immediately pulled over.  We were smack dab in the middle of the reservation.  It was a fun little stop.

I guess these kids didn't want to get out on the res.

Here we are at Glenn Canyon Dam.  It's the dam that blocks the water for Lake Powell.  It was a nice refreshing stop.

Dallin and DeWitt looking at the Dam, the lake and the bridge.  It was Awesome!

Allison saw this question on the board, so she innocently asked Scott that question......and it came out not so innocent, but oh so funny.

Lillian didn't quite get all the pictures she wanted to we pulled over so she could get a few more.  Go Lil!

our picnic lunch after we saw the amazing Glenn Canyon Dam

This is Moque Cave.  It's just out of Kanab, Ut.  Scott had stopped here as a kid so we stopped for sentimental reasons.  We just looked around real quick.

Getting Ready to Leave!

This is the night before we left to take Dallin.  It was so nice to hang out together.

These pictures are of everybody watching Dallin getting ready the same night that he was set apart.
Dallin is a missionary here.  I watched while he packed, and he got everything into 2 suitcases, but he took 3 anyway.

Dallin with Brinley and Larissa Bues.  She took him on his last date, before he was ordained.

Dallin and a good friend Tommy Schnell

Dallin Set Apart as a Missionary

Our beautiful family, just before it's about to change.  Dallin is about to become a missionary

With grandma and grandpa Biggs

The wonderful men in my life.

Dallin with Skyler and Wanda

Yep, that's right where Dallin's pin is!!!  I like to look on the Stake President's wall for Dallin's picture and I like to look at the glass case by the Bishop's wall, it just makes me smile.

May 18, 2011 Dallin Scott Evans was set apart as a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Corey Sanders our Stake President set Dallin apart, it was a beautiful blessing.  Scott, Dad, Tom Biggs, Skyler Evans and Rick Lines, were all there to help officiate.

My Lilly Bug is graduating from 8th grade

Dear sweet Lillian is graduating from 8th grade on May 25th 2011.  She is graduating with honors!  She has held a strong position on the Principal's gold list the whole year of 8th grade.  She is in advanced math, she is a wiz on her "bring home" school computer. She makes all sorts of pod casts, and videos, and so much more I don't even know about on her apple computer.  I know she is going to miss that when she becomes a freshman.  We just got a letter from her school inviting us to an awards night, so that she can be honored for her high scholastic achievement.  She just got back from Sun splash.  She was invited to go there with all of the honor students.  Lillian has a huge drive for success.  She is very self motivated to work hard, and to turn in all of her homework.  All of her teachers love her creativity, her quietness, her smile, her cute dress standards, and well just her whole self.  Lillian is almost too humble, she doesn't brag much about herself, but she really deserves to be bragged about.  We love her and are so proud of her.

Lillian has the sweetest of dispositions.  When Dallin opened his mission call and we found out that he reported to the MTC in Provo on May 25th 2011 Lillian didn't even hesitate.  She said "I'm going, I don't even care about missing my graduation."  I do feel bad for her, but I know she would rather be with her family.  She is a beautiful happy girl, and we are so happy that she is a part of our family.

I obviously won't have any pictures of Lillian graduating from 8th grade so here are some super cute ones of her in her regular life!

"The Farewell"

Today, May 15th 2011, Dallin gave his farewell talk in church.  It's really not a farewell talk, but I don't know what else to call it.  The program was AWESOME.  I really can't think of a better describing word for it.  DeWitt gave the first talk, then Dallin and then a High Coucelor.  Scott gave the opening prayer and I gave the closing prayer.  DeWitt talked about service and how that is the basis of our religion.  He talked of the things that the church does for disaster relief.  He talked about Joseph Smith and how much service he gave, even his own life.  He talked about Jesus Christ, and the service he gave, even his own life, for each one of us.  He talked of missionary work and how that is service, and he closed with his testimony and then expressed his love for Dallin and thanked him for his good example.  Dallin's talk was his testimony.  When he first started he said that he has been working on this talk for the past few days, and then he changed and said, no, I've been working on this talk since I was little.  He said he knew he would be here at this spot in his life and so he has been preparing for a long time.  He talked on the basics of the gospel and then told how that was his testimony.  He talked of Priorities and how we should not get caught up in the worldly things.  He then told that these are good priorities... family, and how that was the central plan.  He talked of friends and the importance of good friends.  He talked of the scriptures, and the Book of Mormon, and how they have been such an important part of his life.  He talked of having the spirit with us, and how we can recognize the spirit.  He talked about Joseph Smith and how the restoration took place.  He talked of Jesus Christ and how he died for every sin, for Alma the Younger's and the Son's of Moshiah's, as well as his and all of ours.  He gave each of us a challenge to keep our priorities in check.  He said that if every soul was important to Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father, then it is our responsibility to go and find and teach those who need the gospel, and that is what he is doing!  The spirit was so strong.  It was wonderful.  I was so proud.  Both boys have lived their lives in a way that is in accordance with the spirit and they are both ready to serve.  What a joy it is to be a mother of such fine people.
The after "farewell" luncheon.  We had about 60 people, and a ton of food.  Thank you to my sisters and sister in law and mom an dad and to sherry for helping.  No way could I have done this on my own.  I love my whole family.  I do think that it was a huge success.  The whole day was Awesome!

This picture was taken last night at our BBQ.  Stetson, Stephanie, Dallin, Joel, and Levi, Docker and Crew not pictured.  Joel's family also drove down from Mesa, thank you, they had to leave right after church to get to some stake meetings, so I knew that I wouldn't be able to get a picture on Sunday.

Dallin and Grandma Sherry
I'm not sure how this happened, but I didn't get a picture of Mary's whole family so I used the one from when they were here for the reading of the call.  Love you guys.
Dallin, mom, and Allison

Grandma Sherry, Allison, Brice, and Nicole
Grandpa and Grandma Biggs.  They weren't actually there during the luncheon, because they had to choose between two great things to be at, and they had already committed to being at Bethany's graduation in Nebraska.  I know how torn they were, and they were here totally in spirit so I had to add a picture of them with Dallin.

Thank you so much to everybody for coming and making this such a memorable day for Dallin.  It was perfect!
