Individual State April 21 & 22, 2017

Alety faces formidable foe in Evans

Scottsdale Rancho Solano Prep's Neha Alety beat Stafford's Polly Evans in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0 in the Division III girls singles state final.
There were long rallies scattered throughout the match. And while the final score was lopsided, Alety said Evans gave her all she could handle on Saturday afternoon.
"I was actually really, really nervous because she's a really, really good player. But I think I just came out and played my game and I think that's what worked for me," Alety said. "She also played really, really well. It was a fun match."
"She's put in a lot of hard work for her to get to this point," Rancho Solano coach Darren Otten said. "... (Evans is) a better player than the score indicated, but Neha totally deserved it."

I loved this article that was printed in the AZ Republic.  Polly really did play so well.  She had long rallies, and Scott said that Polly's serve was much better than her opponent's and that Polly's all around form was much better, it was just the close out that she struggled.  But WOW Polly Mae, 2nd at State is so incredible, you have worked so hard for it and we are so very proud!!

I stick this one in the middle of all of the tennis pictures,
because this is what it looks like to prepare mentally for tennis
matches.  Polly is strategizing with dad about how not to give points away.
