Our Rocky Point Vacation June 17-June 24, 2011

Here we are the morning of our summer vacation.  We are only an hour behind, so we feel we are right on schedule.  This is in our cul-de-sac, right before we head off for our big adventure.  We took mom and dad this year.  I was really wanting to show them a good time.

This is the first of the adventures and good times that I was able to show my parents.  This is at Panchito's in Ajo.  When we stopped for our bathroom break at the casino, Scott noticed that one of our tires was starting to show serious signs of distress.  So instead of turning right to go to the boarder we turned left and went to Ajo, in hopes of finding a tire.  Panchito was kind and gracious and willing to help travellers in need.  Too bad he gave us a bad tire.

Because here we are 15 miles down the road with a worse tire than our first bad tire.  Panchito's completley fell apart.  Mom and dad were in their car right behind us, so they had to stop everytime we stopped.  I felt so badly for them, but they are such good sports.

The kids chatting it up with grandma.  DeWitt is the type to have fun with anything.  He made a game with a cactus that was about 50 yards away.  The game....to throw a rock and see who can hit it.  My rock went about 5 yards.  Everyone else did pretty good.  Then when people were too hot and tired, DeWitt grabbed  up a watermelon sized rock and chucked it towards the cactus.  It went about the same distance as mine.

We had to unload our very overly loaded car, to get the spare tire and tools.

Here is my most awesome husband, who can do anything, changing the tire.  Three different police officers stopped to help us, two stayed to watch Scott.  They were very kind and I was glad to know that they were available in such a baren desert.  Scott made quick work of the tire changing, and then instead of going back to Panchito's to get a refund for our tire, we just headed south to the border.  We stopped at, at least 4 different tire stores, and finally the last shop had our size of tire.  I'm so glad that Scott speaks Spanish, did I mention his awesomness.  We got a great tire so we could finally begin our vacation.

YEAH the Chicken Hut!!!!  We made it.  A 6 hour trip turned to a 9 hour trip.  Everyone was taking it all in stride.  Scott and I still felt so bad about  the parents experience with our vacation together.

Eating at the Chicken Hut brings many happy faces.
Walking into the cool lobby.  This first part of the lobby has sounds like a Myan howler.

Dad was impressed with the animal sculpted towels.
This was the first night.  We love to walk around the resort at night and see all the beauty

Relaxing on the beach

Going back to our room, after chilling at the pool.
One of our favorite things to do, is to play games in the lobby.
There was a lot of soccer on tv, so DeWitt is giving grandpa a quick lesson in how the game works.
So happy to be at Rocky Point!
We are headed down to the beach to see "high tide"  Grandpa checked the computer to see when it would be and then we all went down to see it.  It was quite a sight.
Silly Allison makes fun of me for taking so many pictures, so this is her posing for me.
Hanging out

We were watching the kids who wanted to night swim
Our room was right behind them.
