1st Round of State and Prom!! April 20 and 21st

Tennis State Championships are always a fun thing for the Evans Family.  Polly came with us. She was originally going to stay with Isabel, but decided, almost as we were driving out that she wanted to come with us.  We were so happy that she did.  We had a lot of fun with her.  We are watching Lillian play doubles right now with Hannah Riddinger

Lillian playing doubles with Hannah.  They are a very competitive team.  They are playing Tombstone here and they won 6-1 and 6-0.

Lillian's most awesome serve!

The proud papa watching DeWitt play.

DeWitt's most awesome serve.

When DeWitt went in for the handshake, he moved the opponents hand out of the way, and went in for the hug instead.

Lillian and DeWitt have had such a fun time in tennis this year, now that they are at state, it's even funner.  They both got these nonprescription glasses at the mall.

You can count on Scott finding some pick up tennis.  State tennis didn't start until later in the afternoon, so we went to Kiwanis and Scott played tennis, and Polly and I went on a high adventure walk around the park.

Scott taking care of a drop shot.

Ahh, we were trying to get a picture, but the sun was right in our faces!!

Better

This is mom and dad's condo, in Mesa.  This is where we have been staying each weekend that we have come down.  This place has been such a blessing to our family, and we sure do appreciate being able to use it.  Thank you so much mom and dad.

We got home from State as fast as we could, so that we could put together a super great prom dinner for DeWitt and Whitney.  It ended up being really nice, haheem, we because, Rachel happened to be serving the Stake dinner that same night, and she really goes above and beyond with her food and her display, so I just ran right over to the church and got me some of that greatness, and wabam, a nice prom dinner.  Thanks Rach.

Beautiful

By now DeWitt was tired of me following him around with the camera, but I think that this is one of the best shots.

Scott working on the next set of apartments.  This was really was supposed to be my  job, but man it's hard, so my honey, he looks after me, he does his job and mine, and then pays me in the end.  It was really just a joke when I told him to pay me, but when he handed me the money, I didn't offer to give it back.  HAHA

So I really did have good intentions.  I would like to be a hard worker like my husband, but it's so hard..  Can you hear me whining.  I don't know how he does it.  I am hugely impressed.

Ok one for the road.  At least I tried.

Scott's 45th Birthday April 12, 2012

Happy 45th my wonderful husband!!!

Our tradidition is to wake up the birthday person with balloons, early in the morning.  This kids are still somewhat tired.  hahaha

Scott looking to the future, wondering next what to do with the next half of his life.  (his words)  He asked the kids to give him ideas of what he should do with the next half of his life, "you know big things," he says "like getting married and having a family were big in the first half of my life."  So this is what Allison said for him to do, in her own words.....

Life round 2:
1) You and mom would have so much fun working at a church history or civil war site for a season or few. This might keep till Polly moves out, but you both interact so well with people, and have a good understanding of these histories.
2) A mission is always a lovely option.
3) You seem to like mastering different careers. What have you done so far? BLM, firefighting, Appraising, Construction, Apartment ownership/management. Maybe its time to gain a new career. A few options I think you might be good at are: pilot, professional landscaper, historian (You know all the information. Maybe its time to get that masters and PhD!), And really teaching is so much better for upper division college students who are really into the material.
4) I hear second families are loads of fun. Ever considered having another kid?
5) I really feel like you need to learn an instrument.
6) Perhaps you could write a book? I don't know which kind you would prefer? Perhaps a historical novel, or a dungeons and dragons style fantasy.

Hhmm. I may have other ideas for you later. I don't know if these are concrete enough or would even strike your fancy, but they're a thought! I want to hear the other kids ideas as well. I love you Papi!

We are wanting to all go and pick up Allison when she is done with Dixie State at the beginning of May, so I've been saving money so that it would be an eaiser trip for Scott financially.  So I was able to give him $400 smackers.  I was so proud to give that to him on this most important birthday.  Well you know what he did with it?  He gave me, DeWitt, Lillian  and Polly each $100, and he said to save it for the trip, and when money is needed we would be able to pay for it.  Like gas or food etc.  At first I didn't understand, but then I caught a glimpse of Scott's greatness and saw that indeed it was a fun teaching tool.  You're amazing Scott!

Yesterday Scott was walking around the house telling everybody how excited he was for his birthday, and he saw this gun of Polly's so then he told Polly as he pointed to the gun, "and I want that for my birthday."  So here it is.  Happy Birthday to YOU!

Scott asked me to create a new cake, this is the 2nd try.  It is a white cake mix with peaches mingled winthin , and heaven forbid no frosting.

The happy Scott.  He is a good birthday sport!  We love you con todo our corazones!!  Happy Birthday

Easter Fun April 7th and 8th, 2012

Decorating the Easter Eggs

I'm pretty sure Polly just finished reading dad's egg!

I told the kids to pick their favorite egg to show in the picture.

So here is Scott's favorite egg.  It says....."You break my shell, I'll break your face!"  Oh my goodness, his other egg said, "You crack me up!"
I told Patrick to pick his favorite egg, and he picked up one of Scott's.  I guess he wasn't satisfied with his own.  By the way Patrick got his mission call on April 13, 2012 and he is going to St. Peters berg, Russia.  He leaves June 6, 2012.  He has been a super example to DeWitt, and a wonderful friend to have in our home.

Oh Lilly just couldn't decide which egg was her favorite, so she went with all three.  I know the black and white one is a penguin, and it is very cute.

Polly is having her first movie star crush!  She made this egg in honor of Peeta from Hunger Games.  The other day Polly said to me, "mom I love Peeta from the Hunger Games so much it hurts my heart" and she pointed to her heart.  Awwww so cute.  She told Allison and Allison empathised with her.  She said "I know for the longest time I wanted to live at Hog Warts."  She said, "it never gets better Polly."  My eggs were sentimental, stuff like.....I miss Allison, and I miss Dallin and Scott plus Rebecca.  Ha nothing like "you break my shell I break your face"  Goodness.  You crack my up Scott.

Easter basket time.  Polly's was a bit harder this year, I think she was happy about that.
Polly was so happy to find her basket.

Lillian is excited about the new cool socks.

Going through the loot

DeWitt's last year with us.  Happy and sad thought

Our beautiful niece, Savannah, and her sister Britney.

Grandma Sherry was happy to get a basket too.

The puzzle, one week later.  Putting in the last piece.  The last two pieces couldn't be found anywhere.  So finally Lillian looked in her Easter basket and found one, and Polly looked in hers and couldn't find it.  She was so frustrated.  DeWitt was teasing her that she wouldn't have closure and for her whole life she would have unresolved issues with puzzles.  Finally she told me to look again in her Easter basket and there it was, so now we have no future worries concerning puzzles.

Patrick and his basket, and the finished puzzle. He was having his own little obsession with it, and put in a lot of effort on it.  He kept rubbing the finished product, saying how good it felt.

DeWitt having a "jam session" with our good friend Tommy Schnell, who came over for lunch everyday for 2 years.  He would always tell us that his hopes and dreams in life were to live in the forest and be a hobo.  He would find a hobo wife and play guitar to earn money.  At the time he didn't even know how to play the guitar.  So now, 4 years later he plays beautifully, and he owns 3 guitars, knows how to build them, and his going to live his dream this summer in the UK.  He is going to live in the forest and be a hobo.  Just his guitar, and a sleeping bag.  That's what you get when you dream.  They come true.  You go Tommy!!!!

Our Annual Biggs Desert Picnic

Ah, I love this time of year.  I love the tradition that the Biggs' have of have a desert, breakfast picnic.  It's a lot of work for mom and dad, but we all enjoy it, and it gets us away from our busy lives for just a bit, which is great.  Mom making her famous cheese biscuits.  I've tried and can't quite make them the same as she does.

Mingling with the family.

My main squeeze.

Scott loves it when the little kids want to talk with him.  Here is Lindsay showing him her treasures.

Mary and Rebecca making, potatoes and bacon

Oh goodness, if Polly and Isabel look a little frightened, it's because they truly are.  They were out hiking in the desert, and Polly bent down to pick a flower and about a foot away from her hand was a rattle snake coiled and shaking it's rattle.  They ran and ran fast down the hill.  Scott went up to find the snake, but it must have already moved on.  That's the only thing that I don't like about the desert picnic, is the possibility of snakes.  I'm so grateful that they didn't get bitten.

Scott and my chugga boy, (Luke) having so good dutch oven food.

Scott, Lillian and Polly

Grandpa, doin his thang!!!  He is pretty good, I mean look at those biscuits!!!

Enjoying the hard work.

There's something about little boys and fires.  These boys had no problem taking our used plates, because they wanted to throw them in the fire, and watch them burn!
Cute cousins, Polly and Isabel

Carson you lucky skunk!

Two cute smiles.  Lillian and Jared.

Rylie and Lillian

We were going on a hike to find a geo cash treasure.  It was longer than the kids thought, but it was fun.
The kids finding the geo cash.  Thanks Tyson for showing us this fun game.

Brianna, Kirtlyn, Brinley, Carson, Thomas, Lindsay, Hyrum, Polly, Isabel, Luke, Rylie, and Lillian
This is where the geo cash treasure was.

Something about Scott draws the kids to him.  Maya was happy to be carried by this handsome man.

I guess Lillian, Mary, and Polly thought that they should do some lunges to work off that yummy breakfast.
